Rene “RJ” Ornes, LPC-Associate
(Supervised by Felicia Stone, MA, LPC-S)
My name is Rene M. Ornes, Jr, but everyone calls me “RJ”. I’m so glad you’ve found me — thanks for your interest in my services.
I show up for my clients in an empathetic and playful way while remaining honest and respectful. I’m compassionate, but I am also not afraid to challenge my clients. While I welcome clients of any nature, I have a few specialized clinical interests: social anxiety, self-esteem, healing from hurtful parenting, life transitions, relational challenges, and queer-affirming care.
You should know that if there are a million counselors, then there are a million expressions of counseling. For me, the therapeutic experience is a unique and creative process that merges art, science, and philosophy into a single experience.
My primary way of relating to my clients is through Relational Therapy. This means that I emphasize the importance of relationships and how they impact the well-being of you, the individual. We’ll use cognitive-behavioral techniques to stop unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, too.
I am also a Gottman-trained couples therapist. To me, working with couples is both challenging and rewarding, because couples therapy is an exceptionally vulnerable experience. Holding that space is both an honor and a privilege.
My training in Relational Therapy and the Gottman Method, paired with my life experience as a queer, Hispanic man, allows me to help my clients through whatever struggles they’re facing from my unique lens. If my approach sounds like something you’d benefit from, feel free to reach out.
